What We Do
Skeleton Key Theatre creates and produces immersive theatrical experiences. Our plays often take place outside of a traditional theatre space and are created through collaborative creation. Our shows have been performed in places such as an old bread factory, a church sanctuary, and the Ottawa River.
Founded in 2010, Skeleton Key is an independent project-based company based in Ottawa headed by Co-Artistic Directors Kate Smith and Madeleine Boyes-Manseau. Our work is designed to spark cross-generational discussion in an attempt to make the company’s theatrical events a place for shared experience and exchange.
Past Productions include:
Swan River (premiered at the Ottawa Children's Festival (May 2018) with support from the Canada Council for the Arts' New Chapter Program, the Ontario Arts Council and the City of Ottawa);
Burger King Lear (Fresh Meat Festival, Ottawa, 2016);
